Volunteers provide a bridge between the community and residents and play a vital role at Lutheran Home at Concord Reserve. Through the countless hours of service, over 100 volunteers remind us daily that love, caring, and selfless service, are qualities that truly make a difference in the lives of our residents! Our volunteers bring their unique gifts, talents, interests, and ideas to share with our residents–enriching their quality of life.
Assist Coordinators: Assist Life Enrichment Coordinators with fun activities in the neighborhoods.
Assist Residents: with computer use.
Board Games: Evenings (after 6 p.m.) or weekends (after 3 p.m. on Sunday)
Bingo Assistants: Friday 1:30-2:30 p.m.; Saturday 1:30 p.m. Volunteers are needed to transport* residents to & from Bingo 30 minutes before and after on Fridays & Saturdays. Some residents also need help with their Bingo boards.
Bird Care: Care, feeding and cleaning of our Main Street ducks & finch aviaries.
Card Player: Play Pinochle with residents on Main Street from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
Bring residents to & from the following religious programs:
Wednesday Church Service 10:30 a.m. (Transport at 10 a.m.)
Sunday Catholic Mass 10:15 a.m. (Transport at 9:45 a.m.)
Sunday Church Service 1:30 p.m. (Transport at 1 p.m.)
Escorting Residents: Transport* to & from therapy, as well as to & from the eye and/or
dental appointments within the Lutheran Home.
Cinema: Saturday afternoon. To transport residents & serve as Usher
Exercise Groups: Transport* residents to a small group in a neighborhood.
Music: Share musical talents with residents, participate in sing-a-long groups & transport*
residents to small groups in a specific neighborhood.
One-to-One with Residents: Socialize, play a game, visit in their room.
Parties: (holidays/birthdays) Transport* is always welcome. Stay & join in the party fun!
Provide Activity Groups: (in the neighborhoods) that can be enjoyed in the evenings
or on weekends.
Service Hours: Available for responsible, caring, students who wish to volunteer in
any of the areas listed.
Sewing: Light repair/sew nametags into residents’ clothing.
Small Reminiscing Groups: Transport* residents to a small group in a specific
neighborhood. 1-1½ hour activity. Reminiscing boxes & books are available for your use.
Story Telling: Tell stories with books & props (provided; or bring your own).
Transport* residents to a small group in a specific neighborhood.
Teaching Crochet or Knitting: Class is held at “Knit-Wits Corner” each Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. A creative way to connect residents to community projects (like making baby blankets for hospitals.)
Volunteer applications are available at the Ambassador’s Station at Lutheran Home at Concord Reserve. Once an application is completed, an interview will be conducted and TB testing is required.
